UE News and Notes for Nov. 6, 2012

—Look at noon Thursday for a UE sports chat either here or at courierpress.com where you’ll be able to ask questions and converse ahead of the Aces’ season opener at Notre Dame. It should last about a half hour.

—Notre Dame coach Mike Brey talked about, among other things, Saturday’s game during his Tuesday morning press conference. Here’s what he had to say about UE. Look for more on the Irish in the coming days.

Check out a feature I wrote on UE freshman center Egidijus Mockevicius as a follow up to Saturday’s Illinois-Springfield win. In essence, the big man is coming around.

—ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his first “Bracketology” projections on Tuesday, and he gives the MVC two bids: Creighton as a five and Northern Iowa as a 13.

—UE posted both its men’s and women’s Ford Center video intros to YouTube for this season’s teams. We’ll get to see those plenty next week when the men host three games in three days and the women make it a doubleheader on Saturday.

—The UE men’s soccer team enters a must-win situation Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. match against Drake in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament. The Aces carry in the fourth seed and, with a win over the fifth-seeded Bulldogs, would move on to play nationally-ranked Creighton Friday. Follow updates from Wednesday’s match on Twitter (@ECP_Lintner).
