—The UE women dropped their second game of the season Sunday at Illinois to move to 1-1. The game was the Aces’ first of three against Big 10 Conference opponents, and I took a look at that aspect in the story.

—Missed anything from UE’s season-opening loss Saturday at Notre Dame? It’s probably linked here along with some thoughts on the game.

—The Aces host Buffalo, Yale and Western Illinois from Thursday through Saturday at the Ford Center. Yale suffered one of the biggest upsets of the weekend, an 85-82 loss to Sacred Heart of the Northeast Conference.

—South Bend tribune writer Tom Noie followed up from Saturday’s UE-Notre Dame game with a story about, yes, Jack Cooley, and essentially how each team will try to body up the big man as the Aces did.

—After 700-plus miles of driving and three games in as many days, I’m hoping I won’t instinctively hop in my car tomorrow and drive a long distance to watch basketball. No guarantees.

—UE junior Kelby Jenkins recorded a record time and a school-best 33rd of the 200-plus women’s runners in Saturday’s Great Lakes Regional cross country race. Men’s sophomore Josh Genet ran 65th, and the Aces finished 21st in team scoring, their best-ever result at the regional.

—UE’s volleyball team split home matches this past weekend against Bradley and Northern Iowa. The Aces finish their season on the road next weekend against Indiana State and Illinois State. They’re mathematically eliminated from making the six-team Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

—UE’s swimming and diving teams split against IUPUI at the Carson Center, with the women posting a win and the men a loss.
