UE News and Notes for Nov. 19, 2012

—There are just a few ways to follow Tuesday’s UE-Tennessee Tech game, among them radio from wuev.com and a live blog I’ll run from the Golden Eagles’ Eblen Center (your participation encouraged). Check out a Troy Taylor-based game preview here.

—UE made its three-player recruiting class of Jaylon Brown, Duane Gibson and Blake Simmons official Monday, and coach Marty Simmons offered his thoughts on all three new players here.

—The Missouri Valley Conference published its weekly men’s basketball notebook, complete with breakdowns of every league member.

—Mount Carmel (Ill.) High School guard Tyra Buss’ family spokesperson announced that Buss will commit to a school at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Buss has an offer from UE’s women’s program, Indiana and just about everywhere else in the midwest.

—UE men’s soccer player Nick Schroeder made the MVC’s scholar athlete team that came out today. Schroeder, a sophomore, has a 3.97 grade-point average.

—Something I didn’t mention here but found out over the weekend from women’s coach Oties Epps. The UE women, who hosted San Jose State, will play a return game against the Spartans next season in California. On their way, the Aces will also play at Missouri.
