—Thanks to the information technology folks at the Courier & Press, my blog now views better and loads faster on mobile devices. It should be a welcome change for those who click through on links from Twitter.
—Marty Simmons discussed his “disappointment and frustration” about how last week went for the Aces on his weekly radio show. Read Simmons’ candid comments here.
—Also on Simmons’ radio show, it was announced that fans can get one $5 ticket to the Aces’ next two games against Alabama State and Oakland City for every canned or non-perishable food item donated at both the Carson Center this week or at the Ford Center door.
—The Missouri Valley Conference named UE freshman D.J. Balentine its Newcomer of the Week after Balentine scored 15 points apiece in the Aces’ games last week. For more on that and a look around the league, check out my MVC Monday update.
—UE student Bryce Weiler offered his take on last week’s games at TheSportsFeast.com, noting that the Aces lost to their third NCAA tournament participant from last season in Murray State.
—Missed this last Friday, but UE senior Colt Ryan was named an MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week along with Wichita State volleyball player Elizabeth Field. Ryan, of course, was also the 2011-12 MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s basketball and a 2012 first-team all-conference choice.
