Battling a case of “acute turf toe,” UE sophomore Jordan Nelson is day-to-day and not back to practicing yet from the injury diagnosed before the Aces’ game last Saturday against Murray State.
Nelson sat out of drills Wednesday, but coaches are hopeful he can return this week before UE’s game Saturday against Alabama State at the Ford Center.
“It’s just one of those cases of, when he can take the pain he’ll be back,” said Bob Pristash, UE’s sports information director.
Turf toe is a condition in which ligaments around the big toe are sprained and often swell, causing pain and limited movement in the joint.
Nelson, a 6-foot guard from Lincoln, Ill., is averaging 2.3 points in 8.8 minutes per game this season as a reserve.
