UE News and Notes for Sept. 1, 2013

–Kelby Jenkins repeated as UE Mid-American Classic champion. In Saturday’s meet, the senior started her final season in dominating fashion, outkicking two Louisville runners to finish in a time of 14:49.75.

–The volleyball team improved its record to 2-1 after splitting the final two matches of the North Carolina Central Tournament. After dropping a close match to Hampton, the Aces responded with a straight-set win against NC Central. Against Hampton, UE went ahead two sets, but the Pirates rallied to tie, and ultimately took the final set.

–The women’s basketball team freshmen are finally getting a taste of college life. Fall practice began on Wednesday — as did class — and I talked to Dakota Weatherford and Paris McLeod about the transition so far.

–Today, the men’s soccer team wraps up its weekend vs. New Hampshire. Follow @AcesSoccer for updates.
