Happy Labor Day to everyone. No class at UE means little news & notes for the day, but here it goes:
–The men’s soccer team wrapped up the Grand Prairie Classic with a 2-1, double-overtime loss to New Hampshire — the second double-overtime game played by the Aces this weekend (they played to a draw with Massachusetts on Friday). New Hampshire scored the game-winner with less than two minutes until the final whistle.
–Despite a 0-1-1 weekend, Patrick Hodges and Kevin Schafer were named to the All-Tournament team. Bradley placed first in the tournament, finishing 2-0-0, while UE placed fourth of four teams.
–The men’s soccer team played almost 220 minutes of soccer this weekend, and even with 0 wins, head coach Mike Jacobs has positive words about the team’s performance after the weekend: https://twitter.com/mjpurpleaces/status/374240231962075136
–From around the MVC (football): Northern Iowa running back David Johnson was named National Running Back Performer of the week by the College Performance Awards.
Also if you’re interested, here’s a couple of tweets about MVC football teams in this week’s poll:
UNI now 9th in The Sports Network's FCS poll. North Dakota State is No. 1, with 145 of 152 first-place votes.
