UE News and Notes for Oct. 8, 2013

–The men’s soccer team is taking a quick break from MVC play to head down to Lexington, Ky., tonight to take on Kentucky. The Aces are hoping to bounce back from a tough 4-1 loss to drake in the conference opener. UE is a top-25 team nationally in each offensive category, while the Wildcats just snapped a four-game losing streak with an overtime victory on Friday.

–Both the men’s and women’s golf teams are in action today after opening up the Butler Fall Invitational on Monday. Kayla Katterhenry leads the women’s squad yet again, sitting in a tie for ninth at the after the first day. On the men’s side, Parker Hensley’s two-under 68 put him in a tie for the lead after the first day with 36 holes coming today.

–From earlier: the full results from the MVC Women’s Individual Tennis Championships. UE had two individuals finish top-three in singles and one doubles pair finishing in the top three.

–Lauren Tiernan is the MVC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring both goals on Sunday to beat Northern Iowa, 2-1, in overtime. She evened the match at one in the 74th minute and scored the game-winner in the 92nd minute to give the Aces their sixth-straight win.
