UE News and Notes for Nov. 9, 2013

–Happy college basketball season, Aces fans! UE will get the 2013-14 season underway tonight, as they take on Martin Methodist at the Ford Center.

–After taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room, the women’s soccer team gave up three goals in 11 minutes to Illinois State as the Redbirds defeated the Aces, 3-1, in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament semifinals Friday night. Sophomore Abby Springer put UE ahead just 11 minutes into the match, but No. 1 Illinois State advanced to the tournament final thanks to those three goals, and they’ll face No. 2 Indiana State on Sunday.

–The women’s basketball team kicked off their season last night with a dominant 81-46 win over Eastern Illinois. Five players were in double figures: Sara Dickey, Kat Taylor, Paris McLeod, Miranda Liles, and Mallory Ladd.

–The men’s soccer team takes on Bradley on senior day at Arad McCutchan Stadium. Brandon Causey, Joel Nash and Alex Kapsalis will be honored in pregame festivities before the Aces look to get back on the winning track in the Valley.

–The swimming and diving team lost to Illinois State Friday night, 180-110. The Aces had three individual winners in the meet.
