—Kyle Neddenriep of the Indianapolis Star reported Monday that Fishers High School guard Jaylon Brown will take an official visit to UE this weekend. Here’s something I wrote on Brown a couple weeks ago.
—NBC Sports previewed the Missouri Valley Conference today, tabbing UE third behind Creighton and Northern Iowa. It goes on to say: “This has to be the Purple Aces year for a legitimate postseason berth under Marty Simmons. It’s time to put up or enjoy mediocrity in southern Indiana.”
—Harrison High School junior Ernie Duncan told me today he’ll visit Indiana for this weekend’s Hoosier Hysteria. Indiana is one of a few schools that have contracted Duncan since the former UE commit reopened his recruitment.
—Shy Ely and Denver Holmes both reached double figures in their European professional debuts on Saturday, with Ely scoring a game-high 24 points in his team’s win over Holmes’ squad.
—A quick bit of TV news — seems the UE-Drake game on Jan. 16 will be broadcast in Des Moines, but not Evansville. It’s not known if that broadcast can be picked up on ESPN3.com.
—In the spirit of crosstown rivalry, maybe we’ll see someone top this dunk from the University of Southern Indiana’s season kickoff at Thursday’s Hoopfest.
—Future Missouri Valley Conference baseball-only member Dallas Baptist will host Creighton to start its 2013 season at a new ballpark. Dallas Baptist, not on UE’s schedule this year, joins the MVC starting with the 2014 season.
