Columbus North High School sophomore forward Josh Speidel received his first college scholarship offer on a visit to UE this week, reports Brandon Ramsey of the Indiana Recruiting Guide.
Ramsey’s website ranks Speidel the fifth-best prospect in Indiana for the 2015 class.
“Very good size and strength for his age,” the Indiana Recruiting Guide reads. “Speidel isn’t afraid to bang bodies inside, he is strong enough to finish around the basket and get rebounds at both ends of the floor. He can put the ball on the floor a little too and drive to the basket from the high post. Josh is without a doubt one of the best young big men in the Midwest.”
Speidel averaged 12.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season on Columbus North’s 19-6 team as a freshman. He’s UE’s first reported offer for the class of 2015, which figures to be big on numbers with five scholarship sophomores on the Aces’ current roster.
Scout.com rates the 6-foot-6, 200-pound Speidel a two-star prospect at his position.
