Padres select Lloyd in 29th round

The San Diego Padres used their 29th-round pick Saturday to select UE senior pitcher Kyle Lloyd in the MLB First-Year Player Draft. Lloyd, the Aces’ right-handed Saturday starter, went 7-4 with a 2.59 earned run average last season. Four UE sports’ APRs recognized by NCAA

The NCAA, in its calculations of academic progress rates from the 2011-2012 academic year, recognized four UE athletics programs for figures ranking in the top 10 percent of their sport. Xavier released its non-conference men’s basketball schedule on Tuesday, and a matchup against UE is included on the 2013-2014 slate. The Aces and Musketeers will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, an on-campus arena.
