It’s officially time for UE’s seniors to win or go home as Colt Ryan nears the Aces’ all-time scoring record.

Ryan still isn’t in any hurry on the eve of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, which consists of five rounds before a champion is crowned April 2.

“I’d like to break the record, but I’d like to do it over four or five games,” said Ryan, who sits 56 points from No. 1 in program history. “There’s no urgency from the aspect that I need to do it in one game, two games, so I’m just going to go out and the most important thing to do is win.”

Teammates will look to help the all-Missouri Valley Conference forward anyway.

“We’re going to try and get him as many touches as possible,” said freshman Adam Wing.

Ryan likely would have already set a new mark were it not for an early season hip injury that forced him to fully miss two games and limited the Batesville, Ind., native in others during non-conference play.

It will take 55 points to tie Larry Humes, who still holds the top spot with the 2,236 points he scored in three seasons during the Aces’ College Division days.

“He’s been around quite a bit, and I’ve talked to him here and there,” Ryan said of Humes. “He’s a great guy, and he’s helped us out with a lot of things. It’s an honor just to be mentioned with him.”

Should the Aces beat Tennessee State on Tuesday — tip is set for 7 p.m. at the Ford Center — they’ll likely play a second-round game on the road this weekend.
