—The UE women also took a loss Saturday, that one at 15th-ranked Ohio State. The Aces (2-5) dropped their fourth straight game, with two of those in the streak to Big 10 Conference competition. The other loss to was Illinois, also out of the Big 10. UE plays at Eastern Illinois on Tuesday.
—Heading into Sunday, UE was eighth in a MVC in which all but Drake and Missouri State have winning records. The league’s overall record is 45-20. Wichita State was also one of 21 Division I teams that hadn’t lost yet. The Shockers play today at Air Force in the Mountain West-Missouri Valley Challenge.
—Post-Colorado State, the Aces now have three players averaging double figures: Balentine (11.3 ppg), senior Ned Cox (10.1 ppg) and senior Colt Ryan (10.0 ppg).
—Marty Simmons’ radio show resumes at 6 p.m. Monday after a two-week hiatus (traveled one week to Tennessee Tech and hosted Alabama A&M the next). Simmons’ shows are hosted each week at the Turoni’s by campus.
—That Creighton men’s soccer team that UE went toe to toe with last month for the regular-season MVC championship? The Blue Jays knocked off Connecticut on Sunday to move on to their second straight College Cup.
