—UE coach Marty Simmons said Tuesday that senior Lewis Jones, who didn’t play against Creighton due to illness, will be available for Wednesday’s game against Illinois State. Jones missed the start, giving freshman Adam Wing the opportunity. “He came back and practiced yesterday and did a good job,” Simmons said.

—The Aces enter Wednesday having lost four of five games, including both contests last week. Since UE’s seniors don’t like how things are going with just five games guaranteed left in their collegiate careers, they gathered the team for a pair of players-only meetings recently.

Illinois State opened a two-point favorite for Wednesday’s game at the Ford Center. The Redbirds won an earlier meeting this season against the Aces, 67-62, Jan. 26 in Normal, Ill. Make your prediction for part two here.

—The Missouri Valley Conference closed the book Monday on the officiating fiasco that may (or may not have) cost Illinois State a victory Sunday against Wichita State. Referees sent the wrong Shockers player to the free throw line after calling a flagrant foul on the Redbirds’ Jackie Carmichael.

UE’s basketball program announced its summer camp dates this week for a Day Camp, High School Shoot-Out, Shooting Skills Camp as well as a Father and Son Camp. I wrote a story at last year’s Father and Son camp for anyone thinking about attending.

—Athletic Director John Stanley broached subjects such as the last BracketBusters Challenge, a new indoor golf practice facility and an improved UE women’s basketball team in his latest “Ask the AD” post.

—Since the Aces’ BracketBusters pairing was announced, Wright State has won three of its last four games to improve to 17-9 on the season. UE plays the Horizon League opponent at 1 p.m. Saturday in Dayton, Ohio.

—The MVC posted its Arch Madness Championship Central page on Tuesday, which in addition to offering links for all 10 league members lists seedings and game times for the conference tournament. Arch Madness runs from March 7-10 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

—UE’s tennis program travels to Murray State on Wednesday before hosting SIU Edwardsville on Friday and Tennessee Martin on Saturday at their home Tri-State Athletic Club.
