—I hope everyone had a good holiday — at least as good as the Missouri Valley Conference did. The league continues to roll, and I wrote about that for Thursday’s paper. You can check out the full story here and check out MVC standings here. Four of 10 teams remained undefeated through Thursday, and Northern Iowa took No. 2 Louisville to the wire in taking its first loss.
—The MVC currently does a superb job or promoting itself — despite what Dick Vitale thinks — and part of that is the league’s social media effort. Check out a look at MVC-related tweets from the last few days.
—Friday’s print story revolved around an improved UE defense. The Aces are holding opponents to many fewer points per game this season than last, and they’ve locked down when needed (usually at the end of games) to preserve three straight wins.
—Look for a story on UE freshman Adam Wing in Saturday’s paper. The forward originally committed to Marshall to play football and then Oklahoma State for basketball before he ended up an Aces. And personality-wise, Wing is a guy coach Marty Simmons compares to Tim Tebow.
—If you missed it over the last few days, everything you need to know from Tuesday’s UE win at Tennesse Tech is linked here.
—Up next in UE athletics is a women’s game 2 p.m. Sunday at Wisconsin, the second of three Aces’ games against Big 10 Conference opponents. The men host Alabama A&M at 7 p.m. Monday in the Ford Center.
