—The UE women’s basketball team dropped its third straight game Monday night to Tennessee Martin in the Ford Center. A bright spot again for the Aces was senior Samantha Heck, who recorded her eighth career double-double and came up just two points short of the career-high 25 she posted last Sunday at Wisconsin.
—If you can stand to listen this long, I’ll be on UE radio man Lance Wilkerson’s (@LanceWilkerson) “All About Aces” radio show for about 20 minutes on Friday afternoon. The show airs on 106.7 FM from 4-5 p.m., and you can listen online here.
—MVC favorite Creighton lost its first game, 83-70, to Boise State at home in Omaha, leaving 7-0 Wichita State the league’s last remaining undefeated team. Creighton is 6-1, Illinois State 5-1 and both Bradley and Indiana State 4-1.
—Look for more Thursday on UE’s prep for this weekend’s Colorado State game. The team leaves late Thursday night and has to drive for a commercial flight Friday morning. The Aces will have some time to practice later that day in Fort Collins, but not more than 24 hours to adjust to the air at that altitude.
—Conference realignment took another step on Wednesday, first with Louisville joining the ACC before it was announced that Florida Atlantic and Middle Tennessee State will transition to Conference-USA. The latter moves could possibly affect UE down the line if a Missouri Valley Football Conference member were to ever decide it wants to play in the FBS, filling the Sun Belt Conference’s voids — that’s purely speculation, though. There’s also this Omaha World Herald column weighing the benefits of Creighton in a Catholic league, should one form.
