—The UE men’s soccer team ran its record to 6-3 Tuesday with a 3-0 victory at Eastern Illinois. All three of the Aces’ goals came in the second half as Dylan Terry, Joel Crag and Faik Hajderovic all scored. Craig’s goal marked the sophomore’s first in his college career.
—The Aces’ volleyball team knocked off visiting UT-Martin 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-23). Sophomore Ashley Ring tallied 13 kills to lead UE, typically a slow-starting team that seemed to overcome that on Tuesday to move to 7-12 on the season.
—The UE baseball team released its 2013 schedule on Tuesday, a day after coaches and players got a look at the program’s award plaque from the NCAA for the highest fielding percentage in Division I last season. Look for more on the schedule in Wednesday’s paper.
—Creighton blogger Patrick Marshall (@wildjays) tweeted that UE’s Dec. 22 game at Butler will be broadcast on WNDY out of Indianapolis. No word yet if this means the game will also be carried on ESPN3.com.
—The Missouri Valley Conference on Tuesday named UE freshman Simone Busby its goalkeeper of the week. Since taking over as starter four matches ago, the UE women are 1-0-3, including Sunday’s scoreless draw against Missouri State, the No. 2 team in the MVC’s preseason poll. The Aces also knocked off top-picked Illinois State with Busby in goal. Busby leads the MVC with a 0.37 goals against average and .935 save percentage.
—The UE men’s golf team finished ninth of 11 teams at the Cleveland State Invitational. Quinn Vilneff tied for 13th overall, and freshman Alex Turner (a Harrison High School graduate) tied for 22nd in his second collegiate tournament.
