–It looks like the men’s soccer team got back on the right track in Lexington, Ky., yesterday. Within the first 22 minutes of the game, the Aces scored their two goals of the match and held on to Kentucky’s barrage in the second half to win, 2-1. Landon Souder and Nate Opperman scored for UE, and head coach Mike Jacobs was relieved to get back into the win column after “our worse performance of the season” against Drake on Saturday.

–The volleyball team is 1-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference, so what gives? I talked to head coach Manolo Concepcion and setter Jenn Murphy to figure out what the Aces need to do to become competitive in the remaining Valley matches. Story in today’s paper.

–After another dominant performance this weekend at the Greater Louisville Classic, Kelby Jenkins won her third MVC Runner of the Week award, becoming the first female runner to win three for the Aces and tying the program record set back in 2006. Jenkins is still looking to break the program record in the 5k, as she’s just 3 seconds off the record.

–I’ll be posting both my men’s and women’s basketball MVC Preseason Ballot on the blog later today, so keep an eye out for that.

–The men’s and women’s golf team wrapped up the Butler Invitational yesterday with equally good showings as Monday. On the men’s side, Parker Hensley shot a one-over 71 to finish in a tie for second place while leading the Aces to a second-place finish as a team. Three UE men’s golfers finished in the top ten for the tournament. For the women, Kayla Katterhenry just keeps playing great golf, finishing in sixth place after posting a tournament-low 75 on Tuesday. The Aces women took fourth overall.
