The University of Evansville on Tuesday released a 2013 baseball schedule that includes eight NCAA tournament teams from last season and one College World Series participant.
Five of UE’s opponents posted 40 wins last year and 12 had at least 30.
Teams scheduled who played in last year’s NCAA tournament include Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Creighton, Belmont, Austin Peay, Missouri State and Indiana State. UE played a three-game series at Arkansas, which made the College World Series last year, from Feb. 22-24.
“We always make a competitive schedule – always try to at least,” said coach Wes Carroll. “We’re a scrappy type of team that takes a lot of pride in wearing Evansville across our chests. We want to go toe to toe to get us ready for our Valley slate. That’s what I think we did again this year.”
UE opens the season with a road series from Feb. 15-17 at Arkansas-Little Rock. The Aces play their first home game in a weekend series March 1-3 against Wisconsin Milwaukee.
Missouri Valley Conference play opens March 22 at home against Creighton, though UE will continue to play non-conference opponents Indiana, Western Kentucky, UT-Martin, Belmont, Murray State, Austin Peay, Xavier and SIU-Edwardsville.
The Aces will also host Purdue from March 15-17 and the University of Southern Indiana on May 1 for the first time since 2010.
Other non-conference opponents are Vanderbilt, Eastern Illinois and Oakland City.
