UE redshirt sophomore Jordan Jahr did not attend the Aces’ practice Thursday, continuing a suspension for a violation of team rules that started with Tuesday’s game against Northern Iowa.
“We’re still working through it,” said coach Marty Simmons.
Simmons didn’t say whether Jahr would travel with the team to Saturday’s game at Missouri State. He also chose not to disclose what the 6-foot-6 forward did to draw the suspension.
“We’re still working through it,” the coach repeated.
Jahr averages 3.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game. He’d seen action in every contest until last Saturday’s loss at Illinois State.
Simmons announced the suspension about 25 minutes before the Aces’ overtime win Tuesday against Northern Iowa.
“Jordan Jahr will not be in uniform or in attendance for tonight’s game against Northern Iowa due to a violation of team rules,” the coach said in a statement Tuesday. “The matter will be handled internally by the men’s basketball program and no further questions will be taken at this time.”
Afterward, simmons said “we’re not sure” of a timetable for Jahr’s return.
The Austin, Texas, native and former Air Force Prep School attendee Jahr is in his third year at Evansville. After averaging 3.8 points per game as a freshman in 2010-2011, he broke his foot eight games into last season and took a medical redshirt.
Jahr has started five games this season, all in non-conference play, and scored a season-high 13 points Nov. 17 in UE’s win over Western Illinois. He averages 1.5 points and 8 minutes in Missouri Valley Conference games.
